Saturday, October 7 - 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
The Maine Chapter of the International Thomas Merton Society will hold a “Merton in Maine” gathering at St. Sebastian Church on 161 Main Street in Madison on Saturday, October 7, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome. The society aims to promote a greater knowledge of the life and writings of Catholic monk and author Thomas Merton, who focused on faith, peace, and interreligious dialogue in his works. The Maine chapter was established in 2015 to learn and share how Merton can be relevant in today’s world. On October 7, a documentary on Merton’s life will be presented, readings from Merton’s writings on the contemplative life will be offered, and ways to integrate his contributions in our own lives will be discussed. For more information, contact Chapter Coordinator Cynthia Brackett-Vincent at (207) 778-0467 or Brackett-Vincent@encirclepub.com.
