Way of the Cross Pilgrimage from Assumption of the BVM Church to Our Lady of Consolation, Rockford

Parking lot - Assumption of the BVM Church, 6390 Belmont Ave NE, Belmont, MI 49306 View Map
Saturday, April 13 - 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM

Why would anyone carry an 80 lb ten-foot wood beam cross more than 5-miles on a cold spring morning? Carrying the cross for me has been a profound way to silence myself and reflect on Jesus as I enter Holy Week. Early morning on the White Pine Trail is quiet. As the sun begins to warm the earth it reminds me of the vibrancy of life. Carrying the cross is not easy to do alone. You simply cannot do it for long without needing to give it to someone else. This too reminds me of how we need to rely on Jesus and those He has given us to share the load, in our families, our parish and with others in the faith.

When: Saturday, April 13, 7:30 am

Where: Parking lot of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Belmont, MI

What: Join us as we carry a life-sized cross from the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Belmont, MI to Our Lady of Consolation Church in Rockford. Meet at 7:30 am to begin in Morning Prayer. We will reflect on the Stations of the Cross and decades of the Rosary as we walk.

Who: All are welcome. YOU DO NOT NEED TO CARRY THE CROSS TO PARTICIPATE. Please share this with anyone that may be interested.

It takes about two hours for the entire journey. This is a powerful way to enter into Holy Week in expectation of Easter. I hope you can join us or encourage others to come.
