Love Told in the Grave: The Meaning of Holy Saturday
What was happening between Christ's crucifixion and His resurrection? Using the liturgy, art, and great theological texts, Dr. Pitstick will deepen and enrich your understanding of Holy Saturday and Christ's descent into hell. Participants will also leave with helpful suggestions for meditation and prayer on that day of great silence.
The Silent Day of Prayer includes the Mass, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, two conferences, lunch and concludes with the Rosary and Adoration. $40 per person ($50 with the use of a private room for the day.)
Bio – Lyra Pitstick, PhD
After first studying math and science, and then working for an engineering firm, Lyra Pitstick went on to earn degrees in philosophy and theology. Though she counts Spokane as her home, her doctorate is from the Angelicum, the Dominican Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. Her research focuses on the theology of Holy Saturday. So far, Dr. Pitstick has written two books on the topic. The first, Light in Darkness: Hans Urs von Balthasar and the Catholic Doctrine of Christ's Descent into Hell, merited a Templeton Award for Theological Promise.
