Seeing What Has Been in Front of You: Art as Sight and Insight Art Exhibit, Reception and Presentation Featuring artist Fr. Frank Sabatté, CSP RSVP by Monday, October 14. Please call 616-459-7267 or email email@example.com Great art, regardless of the style, whether a Leonardo or a Pollack, can open your eyes and your soul to what you are in danger of missing, or what you would prefer to miss. In this talk, Fr. Frank will invite participants to “look and look again” at artwork, not with the intention of determining their “meaning” but to allow the work to speak. Great art is a conversation that never ends. At 6:30pm, please join us for a reception and the opening of an art exhibit featuring the tapestry portraits created by Fr. Frank Sabatté, CSP. His collection includes a beautiful portrait of our beloved Fr. John Kenny! At 7:30pm, Fr. Frank will give his presentation for our annual Gallagher Talk. Fr. Frank Sabatté, CSP, holds a BA in Studio Art from UCLA and an MA in Sacred Theology from the Catholic University of America. He was the former vice-president of the Liturgical Arts Guild of Ohio and has exhibited in San Diego, Santa Barbara, Columbus, Ohio and New York City. He has worked as an illustrator for the Paulist Press since 1977. While at UCLA he studied under James Vallerio, Lee Mullican, Elliot Elgart and Oliver Andrews. A member of the Paulist Fathers, a society of Roman Catholic priests, Fr. Sabatté served in campus ministry for over 23 years and has extensive experience working with young adults in developing peer leadership. He is currently the Director of “Openings,” an artist collective in New York City and is Senior Curator of The Gallery at the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture in NYC. Fr. Sabatté is Artist-In-Residence for the Paulist Fathers in New York City.
